The quaint seaside town of Mexico Beach offers a flavor all its own with unique shops, beachfront restaurants and waterfront recreation. Sugar-white sand beaches, clear waters and a wide variety of beach properties include beachfront homes, town homes and even canal front units with private boat docks. I live on the canal and can give you insight into the fishing activities in Mexico Beach. My husband and I are avid fishermen so please ask!
Mexico Beach was founded in the 1950’s and remains a friendly town where families have been making beachside memories for generations. Fishing is king here with public boat ramps and a popular fishing pier. Numerous festivals are held throughout the year with the Independence Day, Best Blast on the Beach, as one of the most anticipated. Mexico Beach is peacefully secluded just 22 miles east of Panama City where visitors can find “big-city” amenities nearby.
The St. Joe Beach / Beacon Hill area is a step back in time to Old Florida with views facing west across to the Cape for spectacular sunsets. Beacon Hill is situated high above the dunes overlooking the Gulf. The area is marked with a flashing beacon light once used to keep ships off the shallow shoal. Beacon Hill Park offers tennis courts, a nature trail, a playground and more.
St. Joe Beach is conveniently located halfway between Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe so restaurants, shopping and marinas are all within a five minute drive. Additionally, the shoreline of St. Joe Beach is protected by Cape San Blas which insures calm, tranquil waters.
Windmark Beach is also located between Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe. Windmark Beach is a St. Joe Company development that will remind you of the beach community you enjoyed growing up. It will offer beautiful home sites and a community atmosphere. St. Joe Company is creating a first class development in Windmark Beach. Please call for additional information or visit their website. If you speak with someone there, please tell them you found out about them from the website of Bonita Thompson with Gulf Coast Real Estate Group in Mexico Beach, Florida.
Known as the “Constitution City,” Port St. Joe is a coastal town with a colorful past and a promising future. Founded in 1835 as St. Joseph, the name given its bay by the Spaniards centuries earlier, it was here that delegates from all counties in Territorial Florida assembled in 1838 to draft Florida’s first State Constitution.
Recently, Port St. Joe has transformed itself from a former mill town to a more tourist-friendly community. You’ll likely hear the soft drawl of southern accents but don’t let the region’s slow charm fool you. The port city is becoming recognized for its deep water access, new restaurants, inns and shopping, while maintaining a friendly, small-town atmosphere.
Port St. Joe’s historic “main street” is taking part in the renaissance with a relaxed strolling, browsing and shopping area. And, within walking distance of downtown, visitors are increasingly discovering the new Marina Cove area. Marina Cove is adjacent to Port St. Joe’s new public marina and holds an expanding variety of shops and services. St. Joe Company also has some exciting things planned for Port St. Joe.
If you have felt that gentle urge to kick your shoes off, relax, and enjoy the Undiscovered Florida, then discover the natural beauty and residential communities of Port St. Joe. Whether you're looking for a great place to relocate, or the perfect place to retire, Port St. Joe may be just what you're looking for.
Ranked America’s #1 Beach for 2002, by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, commonly known as Dr. Beach, Cape San Blas is home to St. Joseph State Park, as well as a variety of secluded beach front homes and small developments. The 2,516 acre state park stretches from the “tip” of the peninsula and continues for an uninhabited eight-mile stretch of towering dunes, pristine beaches & crystal clear waters.
The “occupied area” of the peninsula stretches from the park entrance to Salinas Park. The Cape offers the tranquil waters of St. Joseph Bay on one side and white sand beaches along the Gulf of Mexico on the other. The area is known for great fishing, scalloping and a relaxed family setting. Port St. Joe is a ten-minute drive and offers quaint shopping, a full-service marina and coastal restaurants.
Venture beyond the Cape San Blas Light House to a classic Old Florida coastal community called Indian Pass. This area is truly a sportsman’s paradise with broad beaches facing the open Gulf of Mexico and a sheltered lagoon, home to the celebrated Lagoon Oyster. Opportunities for exploration abound with beach horseback rides, great fishing, golf within ten minutes & a fifteen minute drive to historic Apalachicola.
Cape San Blas and Indian Pass are truly unique areas. Property types range from lots to luxury waterfront homes. Let me know what you are looking for from the beach to the bay and I can make it happen for you!
